For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Bentley Continental GT have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Porsche 911 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Continental GT’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The 911 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Bentley Continental GT has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 911 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Continental GT has standard front and rear seat side-impact airbags and head airbags, which act as a forgiving barrier between the passengers and the door. Combined with high-strength steel door beams this system increases protection from broadside collisions. The 911 doesn't offer rear-seat side-impact airbags, only ones for front seat occupants.

The Continental GT has a standard Multi-collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The 911 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Continental GT. But it costs extra on the 911.

The Bentley Continental GT’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Porsche 911 does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

The Continental GT has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the 911’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Continental GT has standard Reversing Traffic Warning and automatically engage the brakes. Porsche charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the 911.

Both the Continental GT and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available night vision systems.

The Bentley Continental GT weighs 1552 to 2755 pounds more than the Porsche 911. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Continental GT can travel with zero emissions for 30 miles. The 911 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The Continental GT can travel with zero emissions for 30 miles. The 911 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Continental GT’s fuel efficiency. The 911 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Continental GT has 4.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (21 vs. 16.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the Continental GT has larger standard tires than the 911 (F:265/40R21 & R:305/35R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20).

The Continental GT’s standard 265/40R21 front and 305/35R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Continental GT has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the 911. The Continental GT’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels optional on the 911.

The Continental GT offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the 911; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The front and rear suspension of the Continental GT uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the 911, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Continental GT offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Porsche doesn’t offer an active suspension on the 911.

The Continental GT has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Continental GT’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Continental GT’s wheelbase is longer than on the 911:

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Continental GT is 3 inches wider in the front and 3.9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

The Continental GT’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the 911’s (39.5% to 60.5%). This gives the Continental GT more stable handling and braking.

The design of the Bentley Continental GT amounts to more than styling. The Continental GT offers aerodynamic coefficients of drag from .29 to .32 Cd (depending on bodystyle and options). That is lower than the 911 (.31 to .33). A more efficient exterior helps the Continental GT go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the Continental GT get better fuel mileage.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Continental GT Coupe a Subcompact car, while the 911 Coupe is rated a Minicompact.

The Continental GT has 14 cubic feet more passenger volume than the 911 (87 vs. 73).

The Continental GT has 6.8 inches more front shoulder room, 4.2 inches more rear headroom, 4.9 inches more rear legroom and 2.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the 911 Coupe.

The Continental GT has a much larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (9.2 vs. 4.8 cubic feet).

With its coupe body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the Continental GT offers cargo security. The 911’s non-lockable folding seat defeats cargo security.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Continental GT’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The 911 doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

The Continental GT has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 911 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the 911, the Continental GT has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Continental GT’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 911.

The Continental GT offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The 911 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Continental GT’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children in the rear seat from operating them, but the driver can still raise and lower all of them with the lock engaged. Porsche does not offer a locking feature on the 911’s standard power windows.

If the windows are left open on the Continental GT the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 911 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Continental GT has standard Keyless Access that allows you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. The 911 GT3 doesn’t offer Comfort Access.

To shield the driver and passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield, the Continental GT offers an available center sun visor to cover the area between the driver and front passenger visors. The 911 can’t effectively block glare in the center of its windshield.

The Continental GT offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the 911.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the Continental GT has standard rear heat vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The 911 doesn’t offer rear vents.
