In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Flying Spur are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The S8 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Flying Spur has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The S8 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Flying Spur has standard Maneuver Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The S8 doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The Bentley Flying Spur’s rear backup camera has a standard washer for maintaining a clear view under various conditions. In contrast, the Audi S8 does not offer a rear camera washer, meaning its effectiveness relies on manual cleaning by the user when necessary.

On the EPA test cycle the Flying Spur SPEED running on electricity gets better mileage than the S8 (43 city/51 hwy MPGe vs. 15 city/24 hwy).

The Flying Spur offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The S8 doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The S8’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Flying Spur’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

Both the Bentley Flying Spur and the Audi S8 have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the rear seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the Flying Spur also offers an optional wireless charging system in the rear seat. The S8 does not.
