Both the Flying Spur and LS have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Flying Spur has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The LS’ child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Flying Spur are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The LS doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Flying Spur has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The LS doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Flying Spur helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The LS doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Flying Spur and the LS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Bentley Flying Spur weighs 928 pounds more than the Lexus LS. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Flying Spur comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The LS’ 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Engine

The Flying Spur’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 255 more horsepower (671 vs. 416) and 244 lbs.-ft. more torque (686 vs. 442) than the LS’ 3.4 turbo V6. The Flying Spur SPEED’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 355 more horsepower (771 vs. 416) and 296 lbs.-ft. more torque (738 vs. 442) than the LS’ 3.4 turbo V6.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Flying Spur SPEED running on electricity gets better mileage than the LS 500 AWD (43 city/51 hwy MPGe vs. 17 city/27 hwy).

The Flying Spur SPEED can travel with zero emissions for 30 miles. The LS can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Flying Spur (except Hybrid)’s fuel efficiency. The LS doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Flying Spur Hybrid’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The LS doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Flying Spur’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The LS doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

Transmission

The Flying Spur offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The LS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Flying Spur’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The LS doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Flying Spur’s brake rotors are larger than those on the LS:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Flying Spur has larger standard tires than the LS (F:265/40R21 & R:305/35R21 vs. 245/45R20). The Flying Spur’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the LS (F:275/35R22 & R:315/30R22 vs. 245/45R20).

The Flying Spur’s standard 265/40R21 front and 305/35R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LS’ standard 45 series tires. The Flying Spur’s 275/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the LS’ 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Flying Spur has standard 21-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the LS. The Flying Spur has standard 22-inch wheels.

Suspension and Handling

The Flying Spur has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The LS doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Flying Spur uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LS, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Flying Spur offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lexus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the LS.

The Flying Spur has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Flying Spur’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The LS doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Flying Spur’s wheelbase is 2.7 inches longer than on the LS (125.7 inches vs. 123 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Flying Spur is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the LS.

The Flying Spur’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51.7% to 48.3%) than the LS’ (53.3% to 46.7%). This gives the Flying Spur more stable handling and braking.

The Flying Spur handles at .98 G’s, while the LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Flying Spur executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1 seconds quicker than the LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition (24.7 seconds @ .78 average G’s vs. 25.7 seconds @ .73 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Flying Spur’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the LS AWD’s (37.1 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

Passenger Space

The Flying Spur has 4.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the LS (102 vs. 97.6).

The Flying Spur has 2.4 inches more front headroom, 4.2 inches more front legroom, 2.3 inches more rear headroom and 3.4 inches more rear legroom than the LS.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Flying Spur’s rear seats recline. The LS’ rear seats don’t recline.

Ergonomics

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Flying Spur to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The LS doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are standard in the Flying Spur to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The LS doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and rear seats keep the Flying Spur’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The LS doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Both the Flying Spur and the LS have standard massaging front seats. The Flying Spur also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the LS.

The Flying Spur’s Intelligent Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The LS’ automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

Economic Advantages

According to iSeeCars.com the 2025 Bentley Flying Spur retains 53.16% of its original value after 5 years, more than the 51.31% resale value of the 2025 Lexus LS after five years, which can save the Bentley’s owner.
